Protection
A sacrificial layer,
by design.
Provides sacrificial layer protection for coatings, clearcoats, plastics, glass, decals, and motorcycle seats. Non-permanent adherence: self-removes over time without damaging underlying surfaces.
UV rays
Absorbs, reflects, refracts, and scatters UV rays to prevent fading and oxidation.
Water
Industry-leading hydrophobic properties for superior water repellency and self-cleaning effect.
Wash-chemistry tolerant
Holds up to everyday car-wash soaps, acidic rain and road film.
Environmental contaminants
Protects against environmental contaminants — paint, clearcoats, plastics, glass, decals, motorcycle seats.
Restores coatings
Fresh reactive siloxane re-bonds to a degraded coating, restoring its hydrophobic top layer.
Touch car washes
Keeps beading through 10+ touch washes.
Application
Twist to unlock.
Six steps.
Prep
Ensure the surface is prepped by cleaning thoroughly (polishing recommended for optimal gloss). Glass must be spotless.
Apply
Apply 1–2 pumps to the supplied foam applicator for a 2′ × 2′ area.
Buff in
Buff in a circular, overlapping motion using light pressure.
Dwell
Allow the product to dwell for 5–30 minutes before buffing off.
Buff off
Buff off using a clean, lint-free microfiber towel.
Inspect
Inspect the surface to ensure no residue remains.
Curing & maintenance
The first 72 hours,
and beyond.
- 0hApply
- 8hKeep dry
- 72hRinse only
- 3–6 moReapply for peak
- 12 moSiO₂ layer keeps protecting
- Keep the surface dry for at least 8 hours.
- Avoid washing for 72 hours (rinsing only during this period is acceptable).
- Wash using only pH-neutral soap.
- Reapply Hydro Silk every 3–6 months to maintain peak performance.
- Even after hydrophobic properties diminish, the SiO₂ layer continues protecting against UV, chemicals, and contaminants for up to 12 months.
- Safe for touchless car washes and resistant to acidic and alkaline detergents.

Why it’s its own class
- Won’t melt off in a summer. Wax softens at parking-lot hood temperatures and is gone in weeks. One application holds its beading up to 12 months.
- Rescues the coating you already paid for. Goes on right over a ceramic that stopped beading and restores it. No stripping, no polishing, no recoat.
- One product, whole exterior. Paint, glass, wheels, trim, wrap, PPF. Wax can’t follow it onto glass.
- Never locks you in. It wears away naturally, so a redo is a wipe, not a machine polish. A mistake is never permanent.
Can it be used on all surfaces?
Yes: paint, glass, and trim in one coat. Wax can't follow it there (it smears glass and stains plastic trim), and unlike a permanent ceramic install there's nothing to machine-polish off later. The one no-go: tires.

Can I put it on an existing wrap or ceramic coating?
Clear coat is the one surface with a recovery path: light swirls and etching can be polished out. So the job here is pure protection. A sacrificial layer takes the UV, droppings, and road chemistry so your paint never has to.
Vinyl ages one way: UV and stains soak in, and a wrap can’t be polished or spot-repaired. The same protective layer slows that clock, preserving a wrap that costs thousands to replace instead of letting the sun spend it.
An aging coating loses its water behavior as its top layer degrades. Hydro Silk chemically re-bonds to that surface and brings the beading back, extending the coating you already paid for instead of stripping it.
Description
Hydro Silk is a 20% SiO₂ coating that lays down a sacrificial protective layer over paint, coatings, glass and wraps. It self-removes over time instead of bonding permanently — so there is nothing to polish out, and nothing to commit to.
What you get
- Three to four vehicles per bottle. A typical car takes 15–20 ml, and the 2 fl oz (60 ml) bottle holds 3–4 complete applications.
- Twelve months of protection per application — beading is strongest for the first six months, while the SiO₂ layer keeps working against UV, chemicals and contaminants for the full year. At one application a year, one bottle is up to 4 years of cover.
- 20% SiO₂ content with a proprietary nano-crystal structure for optical clarity and gloss.
- Restores existing ceramic coatings by chemically re-bonding to the aged surface and renewing its hydrophobic top layer.
- Survives the wash. Safe for touchless washes, resistant to acidic and alkaline detergents at maintenance strength (pH 4–10), and stays on through 10+ touch washes.
How to apply
- Prep: a clean surface is the minimum. Polishing first is optional — it helps clarity, but isn't required for the coating to work.
- Prime the applicator with at least two full pumps before you start, so the pad doesn't absorb your first dose.
- Pre-dab the panel. Work in ~2.5 ft sections and place around 5 small dabs before spreading — this is what prevents high spots.
- Spread evenly in a circular or cross-hatch motion. Thin and even beats thick every time. Roughly 2–3 pumps covers a hood, 1–2 per door.
- Dwell 5–30 minutes, then buff off with a clean microfiber towel at light pressure.
- Cure: keep dry for 8 hours, no washing for 3 days, then pH-neutral soap only. Maintain with 404 Detailer between applications.
Is 2 oz really enough?
It is three to four vehicles. A typical car takes 15–20 ml, and the bottle holds 60 ml — ceramic coatings are concentrated and ship in small bottles by design. A hood takes 2–3 pumps. The number that matters is vehicles per bottle, not millilitres. (½ oz covers roughly one vehicle; 1 oz covers about two. Coating glass and trim as well as paint reduces per-vehicle coverage.)
How it compares
| Hydro Silk | Traditional wax | Pro ceramic coating | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Protection | 12 months | 4–8 weeks | 2–5 years |
| Peak beading | First ~6 months | 4–8 weeks | Full term |
| Vehicles per bottle | 4 | Varies | 1–2 |
| Paint prep | Clean surface; polish optional | Clean | Decontamination + polishing |
| Wait before washing | 3 days | 24–48 hours | 7 days typical |
| Reversible | Yes — self-removing | Yes | No — needs machine polishing |
| Applied by | You | You | Usually a detailer |
Wax and pro-coating figures are typical ranges for those categories, not any specific competing product.
Can I use it over a coating I already have?
Yes. Hydro Silk chemically re-bonds to the aged surface of an existing SiO₂ ceramic coating, restoring its hydrophobic top layer rather than just sitting on top. It also preserves vinyl wraps.
