Description
Protecting a finish is one job. Keeping it protected is three. The Tri-System is the coating that does the work, the detailer that keeps it clean without smothering it, and the topcoat that brings the water behaviour back when it starts to fade.
How the three work together
- Coat with Hydro Silk. This is the layer doing the protecting — twelve months per application.
- Maintain with 404 Detailer. Weekly is safe; every 3–6 weeks is typical. Keeps contamination off the surface without taking over the water behaviour underneath.
- Restore with 404 TopCoat at 3–6 months, when beading starts to drop off — or 3–4 months if you want performance held at its peak.
TopCoat can be reapplied several times to hold performance. After repeated cycles, a fresh Hydro Silk application resets the system.
Why buy the system instead of just the coating?
Because the two products most people skip are the two that decide how long the coating actually lasts. Ordinary detail sprays leave a film that temporarily overrides the coating beneath — you keep the shine and quietly lose the performance you paid for. And without a replenishment layer, the only move once beading fades is a full recoat. Detailer avoids the first problem; TopCoat postpones the second.
How to apply each product
Hydro Silk: a clean surface is the minimum (polishing first is optional). Prime the pad with two full pumps, pre-dab ~2.5 ft sections, spread thin and even, dwell 5–30 minutes, buff off. Keep dry 8 hours; no washing for 3 days.
404 TopCoat: mist lightly onto a clean, cool panel or towel — less is more. Spread thin, then level and buff immediately; don't let it dry before wiping. No water for 8 hours, no washing for 72.
404 Detailer: as a detail spray, mist on and buff streak-free — no dwell, safe on glass. As a waterless wash, apply liberally, dwell briefly, wipe one direction at minimal pressure. For interiors, spray the towel, not the surface. Shade only.

Can it be used on all surfaces?
Yes: paint, glass, and trim in one coat. Wax can't follow it there (it smears glass and stains plastic trim), and unlike a permanent ceramic install there's nothing to machine-polish off later. The one no-go: tires.

Can I put it on an existing wrap or ceramic coating?
Clear coat is the one surface with a recovery path: light swirls and etching can be polished out. So the job here is pure protection. A sacrificial layer takes the UV, droppings, and road chemistry so your paint never has to.
Vinyl ages one way: UV and stains soak in, and a wrap can’t be polished or spot-repaired. The same protective layer slows that clock, preserving a wrap that costs thousands to replace instead of letting the sun spend it.
An aging coating loses its water behavior as its top layer degrades. Hydro Silk chemically re-bonds to that surface and brings the beading back, extending the coating you already paid for instead of stripping it.
